A civil servant identified by the initials RJS (50) was found dead in a government vehicle with red plates at Juanda Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java. The woman was the Secretary of the Public Housing and Settlement Area Agency (PRKP) of Bangkalan.

The family’s legal representative, Risang Bima Wijaya, confirmed the victim’s identity. Risang stated that RJS last left for work as usual on Thursday (18/6/2026). Before departing, RJS said goodbye to her child and mentioned she might only return on Saturday due to a meeting agenda. However, the victim did not specify the location of the activity.

“The victim told her child she would likely return on Saturday because of a meeting, but did not mention where the meeting was or which area she was going to,” said Risang. According to Risang, the victim lived with her adult child in a housing complex near the Bangkalan Regency Government complex. Meanwhile, her husband resides in Tanjung Bumi District, Bangkalan, which borders Sampang Regency, and is currently in poor health.

Risang revealed that the last meeting between RJS and her husband occurred on 4 June 2026. After that, family communication continued normally and no domestic issues were detected. “As far as we know, there were no household conflicts or other significant problems. The victim’s daily life proceeded normally,” Risang explained.

The family began to sense something was amiss after the victim became difficult to contact on Saturday afternoon, even though she had still communicated with her child that morning. “On Saturday morning there was still communication with her child. But by the afternoon, the victim’s mobile phone was no longer active and could not be reached. That was unusual for the victim,” Risang clarified.

Before disappearing, the family also noticed the victim’s WhatsApp status indicating she was in the Batu or Malang area. However, this information was never conveyed directly to the family or her husband. With no news forthcoming, the family attempted to search through various relatives and acquaintances on Sunday (21/6/2026). They had even planned to report the matter to the police on Tuesday (24/6/2026).

“Initially, the family planned to file a missing person report on Tuesday. However, before the report was made, the family received news that the victim had been found deceased,” said Risang. The vehicle found at the scene was identified as the official car regularly used by the victim in her duties as Secretary of the Bangkalan Regency PRKP Agency. The family is currently awaiting the results of the police investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
