FedEx Indonesia Obtains Halal Logistics Certification, Strengthening Customer Confidence Across the Supply Chain
Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has announced a strategic milestone with the attainment of Halal Logistics Certification for its operations in Indonesia as of February 2026.
The move reinforces FedEx’s position in supporting Indonesia’s business sector through logistics solutions that are not only safe and reliable but also compliant with sharia standards.
The certification further strengthens FedEx’s capabilities amid the rapid growth of Indonesia’s halal economy. It provides full assurance to business operators that the halal integrity of their products is consistently maintained throughout the distribution chain.
All FedEx Indonesia logistics processes are now aligned with Indonesia’s halal regulatory framework, including Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance (JPH) and related regulations.
Through this standardisation, FedEx Indonesia guarantees that every halal shipment is managed under strict supervision at every stage — from pickup, transit and storage through to final delivery to customers, including international shipments.
Key operational measures implemented by FedEx include:
Ensuring the cleanliness of fleets, equipment and facilities, with strict separation between halal and non-halal shipments across trucks, vans, forklifts and storage facilities.
Implementation of high-standard handling protocols, whereby couriers and Gateway teams inspect shipments, verify labels and follow specialised procedures and mechanisms to prevent cross-contamination.
Execution of washing procedures in accordance with certification standards should any equipment or facilities be exposed to non-halal materials.
Ongoing employee training and supervision, including the assignment of Certified Halal Supervisors to oversee operational compliance and provide training for all staff.
Routine monitoring and systematic process management in storage, handling and transportation, accompanied by continuous maintenance of equipment and facilities.
“We understand that business operators in Indonesia need a trusted logistics partner capable of maintaining the halal integrity of products throughout the supply chain,” said Garrick Thompson, Managing Director of FedEx Indonesia, in a written statement on Tuesday (24 February).
“Obtaining Halal Logistics Certification affirms FedEx’s commitment to meeting that need — by combining FedEx’s global operational excellence with local expertise to help Indonesian businesses penetrate international markets with greater confidence,” he added.
Thompson noted that this milestone also underscores FedEx’s continued efforts to strengthen operational capabilities whilst enhancing the service experience in Indonesia.
Last year, FedEx marked 40 years of operations in Indonesia, affirming the company’s long-term commitment to advancing the logistics industry in this market.
