Febrie's legal team: Pretrial ruling not just about acceptance or rejection
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Counsel for former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah, Febri Diansyah, has asked the public not to view a pretrial ruling solely from the verdict stating whether the petition was accepted or rejected.
“The pretrial ruling is an important part for all of us and for the public as well. It is not just about the verdict, not just about whether it was rejected or accepted, but the considerations and the legal reasons presented,” Febri told reporters at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday.
Febri made the statement after the South Jakarta District Court read out the pretrial ruling in case Number 134/Pid.Pra/2026/PN.JKT.SEL.
The legal team respects the ruling read out by the judge, although it has a number of notes on several legal considerations in the ruling.
His team will study the ruling in more detail before determining the next legal steps together with Febrie Adriansyah.
According to him, the judge’s considerations are important because they can provide an overview of how the law enforcement process is carried out. Therefore, the public is deemed to need to understand the legal reasons behind a ruling, not just the final result.
For that reason, he considers the evaluation important so that the law enforcement process going forward continues to observe the principle of prudence and due process of law.
Febri reminded that carelessness in the legal process can bring serious consequences for parties whose names are listed or involved in a case.
On that occasion, Febri also highlighted the judge’s consideration which was said to acknowledge carelessness in the investigation administration.
“Earlier we also listened together as the judge also acknowledged that carelessness had occurred in the investigation administration,” said Febri.
According to him, administrative matters should not be viewed as trivial when the documents relate to a person whose name is mentioned in a legal process.
“For us, that carelessness may only have the impact of a single sheet of paper, but for other people whose names are mentioned, it is a matter of their fate and the fate of their family,” he said.
The South Jakarta District Court judge rejected the pretrial motion of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah regarding the determination of suspect status in an alleged money laundering case (TPPU) and the forced detention effort.
