Febrie Questions Link Between Jampidsus and Blackout Case, Suggests Coal Procurement Audit
Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah has spoken out regarding emerging issues linking himself and the Jampidsus institution to the blackout case. Febrie said he questions the basis for this alleged connection, as he has yet to see any direct relationship between Jampidsus and the case in question.
He made the remarks whilst answering journalists’ questions during a press conference on Friday, 10 July 2026.
According to him, if the matter concerns coal supplies for steam power plants (PLTU), then the more appropriate step would be to conduct a thorough audit of the procurement process.
“Firstly, regarding the blackout — what is Jampidsus’s connection to the blackout? We are looking for that connection — which case it is,” said Febrie.
He then explained that if the issue points towards coal procurement for PLTUs, the entire procurement process needs to be comprehensively evaluated.
“That relates to coal procurement for PLTUs. If that is the problem, in my view there should indeed be a comprehensive audit covering the volume of requirements, the quality of supplies received, purchase transactions, and the procurement process,” he said.
The Value of a Comprehensive Audit
Febrie considers an audit to be an important step in determining whether there are problems within the coal procurement chain.
According to him, an examination should not be limited to a single aspect, but must cover the entire process, from coal requirements and supply quality to purchasing mechanisms and the procurement process itself.
With a comprehensive audit, he believes it will become clear whether there are suspected irregularities requiring legal follow-up.
He also stressed that if there are indications of unlawful acts, then that falls under the authority of the investigators handling the case.
“Whether there are certain acts — that is for the investigators; you should direct such questions to that division,” said Febrie.
Ensuring Jampidsus Duties Continue
On the same occasion, Febrie assured that all law enforcement activities within Jampidsus continue to run normally amid the various circulating news reports.
He said that all investigations, inquiries, prosecutions, and the execution of evidence continue to be carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
