Febrie Case: DPR Urges AGO to Form Independent Investigation Team

The House of Representatives’ Commission III has requested the Attorney General’s Office to form an independent investigation team in the corruption probe allegedly involving Febrie Adriansyah. The request was made by Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman. He stated that the three corruption cases implicating the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes require an independent team to ensure the handling of the case follows proper mechanisms. “The independent investigation team must be formed from officials who are sterile and unaffiliated with the suspect FA,” he said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Saturday, 11 July 2026. In a separate occasion, Deputy Chairman of Commission III Ahmad Sahroni expressed a similar view. He stated that an independent investigator is necessary for handling this corruption case. “Because this is the moment for us to clean up the law enforcement process,” said the NasDem Party politician. Commission III also agreed to form a supervisory working committee for the corruption case that has implicated Febrie Adriansyah. This working committee is chaired by Habiburokhman, as agreed in a special Commission III meeting. Habiburokhman explained that this working committee will go directly to the field to oversee the stages of the investigation conducted by the police, from the search process to the examination of the crime scene or evidence. “So there is no slander. Don’t let the money be swapped. Don’t let the gold bars be swapped with chocolate,” said Habiburokhman. Previously, the police officially handed over three cases involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah to the Attorney General’s Office. The three corruption cases include the PT Asabri case, the PT Krakatau Steel case, and a coal supply corruption case that caused power outages in Sumatra, which was previously investigated by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps together with the Metro Jaya Regional Police. In this case, the police have named two suspects: Febrie Adriansyah and private party Don Ritto. Both the evidence and the suspects will soon be handed over to the prosecutor’s office. Don Ritto has been detained at the Metro Jaya Police detention centre, while Febrie has not yet been detained. “He has been named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Corps, but has not been detained yet,” said Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Rudi Margono at the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
