Febrie Case: DPR Urges AGO to Form Independent Investigation Team
Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) has asked the Attorney General’s Office to form an independent team of investigators to probe the corruption case allegedly involving Febrie Adriansyah. The request was conveyed by Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman.
According to him, the three corruption cases dragging in the name of the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes are important to ensure the handling of the cases proceeds in accordance with applicable mechanisms.
“The independent investigation team must be formed from a team that is clean of officials and not affiliated with (suspect) FA,” he said at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
In a separate occasion, Deputy Chairman of Commission III Ahmad Sahroni shared a similar view. According to him, independent investigators are needed to handle this bribery case.
“Because this is our moment to clean up the law enforcement process,” said the NasDem Party politician.
Commission III of the DPR also agreed to form a working committee to supervise the corruption case involving Febrie Adriansyah. The supervisory working committee is chaired by Habiburokhman, as agreed in a special meeting of Commission III.
Habiburokhman explained that the supervisory working committee will go directly to the field to monitor the various stages of the police investigation, from the search process to the examination of crime scenes and evidence.
“So there are no false accusations. Make sure no money is swapped. What if the gold bars are swapped with ones filled with chocolate,” said Habiburokhman.
Previously, the police officially handed over three cases involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah to the Attorney General’s Office. The three bribery cases include the PT Asabri corruption case, the PT Krakatau Steel case, and the coal supply corruption that caused power outages in Sumatra, which were previously investigated by the Indonesian National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps together with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
In this case, the police have named two suspects: Febrie Adriansyah and private individual Don Ritto. Both the evidence and the suspects will soon be transferred to the prosecutor’s office. Don Ritto has been detained at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police detention centre, while Febrie has not yet been detained.
“He has already been named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Task Force, but no detention has been carried out,” said Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Rudi Margono at the Attorney General’s Office building on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
