Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah and his family have asked the public not to speculate about the death of a man named Sutrimo.

Febrie, through a member of his legal team, Febri Diansyah, said the family conveyed their condolences over Sutrimo’s death and respected the investigation being conducted by the Polda Metro Jaya.

“The family hopes that through this legal process, the facts regarding this incident will become clearer so that there is no speculation or unfounded assumptions,” Febri said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

“The deceased’s position was not as a household assistant as has been widely reported, but rather as someone who looked after an empty house and lived there,” he said.

The empty house in question is a clinic in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.

He also said that Sutrimo often returned to his hometown or took on other work, so he did not work continuously for Febrie Adriansyah.

Furthermore, the lawyer said that Febrie Adriansyah’s family asked that Sutrimo’s death not be linked to the ongoing legal case at the Attorney General’s Office, in which Febrie has been named a suspect for alleged money laundering (TPPU). Moreover, Sutrimo was known to have been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment.

He also invited all parties to respect the ongoing legal process, including the pre-trial motion that has been filed by the legal team.

It is known that the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya has upgraded the handling of Sutrimo’s death case from the inquiry stage to the investigation stage, and has scheduled an exhumation for Wednesday (12/8).

Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, said the handling of the case was based on a combination of two police reports, namely a public report at Bareskrim Polri and a report from the victim’s family at Polresta Banyumas, Central Java, which has now been transferred to Polda Metro Jaya.
