Febrie Adriansyah Trial to Continue as Judge Orders Prosecution to Present Evidence
Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah will face the evidentiary stage in a case in which he is accused of corruption and extortion.
A panel of judges at the Central Jakarta Anti-Corruption Court ordered prosecutors to continue the trial after delivering an interlocutory ruling on Monday (26 October 2026).
In the ruling, the judges found that the case should proceed to a substantive examination. Febrie’s objection, or exception, was not decided separately and will instead be considered together with the final judgment.
Presiding Judge Akhmad Fijiarsyah Joko Sutrisno ordered the trial to continue as he read out the ruling at the Central Jakarta Anti-Corruption Court.
“[The court] orders the Public Prosecutor to continue examining Case No. 78/Pid.Sus-TPK/2026/PN.Jkt.Pst in the name of Defendant Febrie Adriansyah,” Akhmad said.
The panel also said that objections submitted by Febrie through his lawyers did not provide grounds to halt the proceedings. The arguments in the exception will be examined further during the trial.
“The objection by the defendant/defendant’s counsel, Febrie Adriansyah, will be decided together with the final judgment,” he said.
In its reasoning, the court said the prosecutors’ indictment had set out the alleged series of acts, including when and where they took place. The panel found no formal defect that would render the indictment null and void.
The judges considered the indictment sufficiently clear to explain the case against the defendant and allow Febrie to present his defence.
“Having examined the matter, the panel considers that the indictment provides a sufficient account of the alleged series of acts, including the time and place of the events forming the basis of the charges, giving the defendant the opportunity to defend himself against the alleged conduct,” the judge said.
The case concerns alleged receipt of large sums of money. Febrie and several others are accused of receiving Rp346 billion and US$440,990 in funds allegedly linked to corruption and extortion between 2020 and 2026.
According to the indictment, Febrie and his co-defendants allegedly used intermediaries to facilitate parties involved in legal cases, helping them avoid prosecution. In return, they are alleged to have received money and assets.
