Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the Attorney General’s Office, Febrie Adriansyah, has finally appeared before the public. He gave open statements after his name was linked to an investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement and distribution of coal for power plants owned by PT PLN.

Febrie said his office needed to clarify the various pieces of information circulating so that the public could obtain a complete picture. He stressed that the ongoing developments had not disrupted law enforcement work within the Attorney General’s Office.

“We will convey several explanations to the public. As we know, there has been so much reporting and information circulating regarding law enforcement actions carried out by law enforcement officials, which in the reporting concern the Attorney General’s Office institution and its officials,” he said at a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office building in Jakarta on Friday (10/7).

Febrie assured that the entire Jampidsus staff continue to carry out their duties according to standard operating procedures. According to him, the processes of inquiry, investigation, prosecution and execution of court rulings in corruption cases are proceeding normally.

“We assure you that all the activities and tasks that have been assigned to us and all our colleagues at the Round Building continue to run. In fact, I monitor them and they remain in accordance with SOPs and are proceeding swiftly,” he affirmed.

He also emphasised the Attorney General’s Office’s commitment to respecting every legal process carried out by other law enforcement agencies as long as it complies with criminal procedure law.

“We affirm that the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, in particular the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, will continue to respect every law enforcement process carried out by law enforcement officials in accordance with the applicable criminal procedure provisions,” Febrie said.

According to him, all cases handled by the Attorney General’s Office will ultimately be tested on their merits and procedural validity in court. Regarding reports linking him to the search in the Cipete area, Febrie asserted that Jampidsus has no connection to the allegations circulating in society.

The Attorney General’s Office also invited the public to respond to every piece of information wisely and to jointly safeguard a healthy law enforcement climate for the interests of the nation and the state.

Previously, the case that has drawn public attention was being handled by the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor). Investigators searched at least 13 locations and seized large amounts of cash and tens of kilograms of gold.

The alleged corruption relates to the procurement and distribution of coal, which is suspected of having disrupted fuel supplies to a number of coal-fired power plants, triggering power outages in various regions across Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java and Jabodetabek.

“As a result of these actions, combined with economic losses related to the blackout, state financial losses or losses to the national economy of approximately Rp5 trillion are indicated to have occurred,” said the Director of Enforcement at the National Police’s Kortas Tipikor, Brigadier General Robertus Yohanes De Deo.

Amid the investigation, the security provided by TNI soldiers at Febrie’s residence also drew attention. The TNI asserted that the security was carried out at the request of the Attorney General’s Office and had been coordinated in accordance with the rules, referring to Presidential Regulation Number 66 of 2025 on the protection of prosecutors in carrying out their duties.
