Febrie Adriansyah Rejects Detention by AGO, Claims Evidence Insufficient
Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah has been officially detained by the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) over alleged money laundering related to PT Asabri. He stated that he had discussed the matter with investigating prosecutors, asserting that the evidence submitted still needs to be examined in greater depth.
Speaking to reporters at the Kejagung on Friday, 24 July 2026, Febrie said, “Today I was examined as a suspect and detained.” He added, “I have discussed with the examining prosecutor that the evidence presented still needs to be investigated or confirmed.”
He stressed that the existing evidence was insufficient to warrant his detention. Febrie claimed the Kejagung had never previously detained a suspect in the manner applied to him. “So in my view, this is not sufficient to carry out a detention in the Bundar building; it has never been like this, in the Bundar building it has never been like this,” he stated.
He further explained that the investigative and examining teams should conduct a more thorough review of all the evidence submitted. Nevertheless, he said he would follow the detention procedure as it was a decision made by the leadership of the Attorney General’s Office. “All evidence must be confirmed and deepened first, and exposed repeatedly, only then are we sure that it is not unjust to name someone a suspect and then detain them. But this has become the leadership’s decision, I am ready to face it, and I feel this is criminalisation,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that the Metro Jaya Police, together with the Corruption Eradication Task Force of the National Police, conducted a search of Febrie Adriansyah’s private residence in the Sentul area, Bogor Regency. The search was part of an investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering involving PT PLN (Persero), PT Asabri (Persero), and PT Krakatau Steel. The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police confirmed that the Sentul house was one of 12 locations searched.
