Febrie Adriansyah Detained at KPK Detention Centre: 'I Feel This Is Criminalisation'

Former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah has claimed he is being criminalised after being named a suspect in an alleged money laundering case. Speaking at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026), he revealed that he had been questioned as a suspect and immediately detained. However, he argued that the evidence presented by the investigating prosecutors still needed to be examined further or confirmed. According to Febrie, the determination of his suspect status and subsequent detention should have been carried out after the evidence had been confirmed and the case had been exposed multiple times. ‘In my view, this is not sufficient to warrant detention. At the Bundar Building (Jampidsus), it was never like this,’ he said. He stated that he felt criminalised, but respected the decision. ‘This has become the leadership’s decision. I am ready to face it and I do feel this is criminalisation,’ he said. Based on observations on Friday, Febrie left the Attorney General’s Office main building in Jakarta at around 11:00 PM WIB, wearing batik and without handcuffs. On Friday, Febrie underwent questioning as a witness in the money laundering case. This was the second summons after he failed to appear on Wednesday (22/7/2026) due to health reasons. Previously, a team of investigators at the Attorney General’s Office, known as Team 9, issued a new investigation order for the money laundering case.
