Criminal Law Observer Kamilov Sagala assesses that the narrative regarding the alleged asset ownership of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah is being deliberately exploited by interested parties to paralyse the aggressiveness and demolish the integrity of the Attorney General’s Office.

"From the various major cases handled by the Special Crimes unit, the Attorney General’s Office has been able to seize up to hundreds of trillions of rupiah. So when a narrative emerges attacking its central figure like Febrie, this is clearly being used by opponents to stem the Attorney General’s Office’s aggressiveness," Kamilov said on Sunday (26/7/2026).

He considers that the issue of Febrie Adriansyah’s assets is suspected to have been deliberately designed to psychologically undermine investigators at the Attorney General’s Office in handling cases. "This is an effort to stem the successes achieved so far," he stressed.

Kamilov is of the view that the most effective way for the Adhyaksa Corps to answer such attacks is through consistency in law enforcement in the courtroom. He emphasised that if the prosecuting team is able to prove the defendants’ guilt in a straightforward and substantive manner up to the appeal level, public trust in the Attorney General’s Office will remain strong.
