Amid the development of digital transformation in the education sector, educators are required to continuously improve their ability to develop learning materials that meet the needs of the times. Responding to this need, a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the State University of Jakarta (FEB UNJ) implemented a community service programme (PKM) to strengthen the competencies of accounting teachers. The programme, which took place from 24 to 30 June 2026, involved teachers who are members of the Central Jakarta Region II Accounting Subject Teachers’ Conference (MGMP). The organisation, under the auspices of the Jakarta Education Office, oversees 15 public and private vocational schools with a total of 64 teacher members. Accounting teachers at the vocational school level still face several obstacles in delivering interactive learning that is aligned with technological developments in the industry. To date, the co-curricular modules used in schools have generally not adopted a deep learning approach or optimally utilised financial data visualisation technology. Based on this situation, a team of FEB UNJ lecturers consisting of Santi Susanti, S.Pd., M.Ak., Susi Indriani, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Saparuddin M., and Dwi Kismayanti Respati, S.Pd., M.Ak., together with students from the Accounting Education Study Programme, provided an assistance programme for the teachers. “The focus of this community service is to empower accounting teachers so they can teach material that is not only theoretical but also practical and applicable in the industry,” said Santi Susanti. The implementation of the activity was divided into three main stages. The first stage was a workshop on preparing co-curricular accounting modules that promote a deep learning approach and are integrated with the achievements of the Pancasila Student Profile. The next stage was training on creating digital financial dashboards. In this session, teachers were guided to transform financial report data into more easily understandable visualisations using the Google Data Studio application. The final stage involved mentoring on the implementation of the training results so they could be directly applied in the learning process at their respective schools. The use of this technology is expected to increase learning effectiveness while helping students understand financial data through visualisations that are closer to workplace practices. Through this activity, FEB UNJ hopes the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in schools can run more optimally. Additionally, the programme aims to strengthen the 21st-century competencies of accounting teachers so that the learning process becomes more engaging, contextual, and suited to the needs of the digital industry. The collaboration between universities and schools is expected to provide sustainable benefits, particularly in improving the quality of vocational school graduates so they are better prepared to enter the workforce. “By strengthening teacher competencies, it is hoped that vocational school graduates will not only have adequate knowledge but also possess relevant digital skills and be ready to contribute directly to society,” concluded Santi.
