“Today, more than 150 mothers are being examined to detect breast cancer.”

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Federation of Business and Professional Women (FBPW), in collaboration with Siloam International Hospitals, has provided health education and free breast cancer screening services for 150 women in the West Jakarta area.

Giwo Rubianto Wiyogo, President of FBPW Indonesia, said the series of activities today formed part of the commemoration of National Children’s Day (HAN), carrying the campaign Spirit to Fight Cancer (Semangat).

“In observance of National Children’s Day, we are holding a social service activity together with Siloam under the ‘One Step: Spirit to Fight Cancer’ programme, in which today more than 150 mothers are being examined to detect breast cancer,” said Giwo after opening the Free Health Education and Breast Cancer Screening event at the Keluarga Pratama Clinic in West Jakarta on Thursday.

She said the commemoration of National Children’s Day 2026, which aims to provide greater appreciation and a better life for children, cannot be separated from the role of mothers.

“A mother’s health has a multiplier effect for herself and, at the same time, for her children — who will educate, care for and nurture children to become the next generation of the nation. Mothers even play an important role in the development of this nation. If mothers are not healthy, how can we continue to raise the next generation?” she added.

She also said that early detection of breast cancer can increase women’s chances of survival to as much as 97 per cent, because treatment and medical action for the healing process can be administered immediately.

“With early detection of breast cancer, more than 97 per cent of lives can be saved,” she said.
