Fatma Saifullah motivates students at Lampung People's School
At this People’s School, children not only learn academic knowledge but also learn to live together.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Adviser to the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), Fatma Saifullah Yusuf, met with students of Integrated People’s School (SRT) 3 in South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, on Wednesday (12/8) to provide motivation to the pupils.
The visit was part of enlivening the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. At the school, red-and-white themed decorations adorned the school hall.
The school, in cooperation with the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation and the Inten Soeweno Integrated Centre (STIS), organised a Freedom Festival to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
Fatma’s arrival with the Kemensos DWP entourage was warmly welcomed with singing and small Indonesian flags held by each pupil. The children also performed a traditional Lampung dance.
On the occasion, Fatma conveyed that the Indonesian independence enjoyed today is the result of the long struggle of the nation’s heroes. That struggle aimed to ensure that the next generation lives better, one of which is enjoying the opportunity to receive an education.
Fatma also invited the SRT 3 Lampung pupils to fill independence with positive activities, such as studying diligently and doing good to others.
“Our task now is to fill the independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) with positive things. For children, one way to fill this independence is with what? By studying. Studying earnestly, respecting others, maintaining friendships,” said Fatma before 401 pupils of SRT 3 Lampung.
The free school programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto not only educates students academically but also shapes better character.
“So at this People’s School, children not only learn academic knowledge but also learn to live together,” she said.
At the People’s School, various facilities and infrastructure are available to support pupils’ activities, ranging from classrooms, laboratories, and libraries to fields for various sports activities. The pupils’ food and nutrition are also well attended to.
“The message is that children must study diligently. The content is just study, study, study. And seek knowledge here well, so that you become successful children,” she said.
In addition, Fatma also advised all students not to be afraid of having high aspirations, because everyone has the same opportunity to live successfully.
“Because every child has the opportunity to be great. And the most important thing is the willingness to learn and to strive. Do not give up easily and always maintain good attitude and morals,” she said.
“Children are not only about providing education, but also about building a safe and comfortable environment. And we must provide support so that our children can become confident individuals and provide hope for the future,” she explained.
The Freedom Festival event was filled with various competitions, ranging from cracker-eating contests, balloon dancing, to marble relay races.
Fatma and the Kemensos DWP entourage also gave a number of prizes to pupils who successfully answered questions about the Republic of Indonesia’s anniversary correctly.
Students from elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels looked very enthusiastic in answering the various questions given.
Also present at the event were Deputy Adviser of Kemensos DWP Intan Agus Jabo, Director of Child Social Rehabilitation of Kemensos MK Agung Suhartoyo, Head of the Lampung Provincial Social Service Aswarodi, and Head of SRT 3 Lampung Asis Prasetyo.
