Father's Fight Uncovers Daughter's Killer Through Social Media Chats

The father’s efforts in the death case of Mozza Axillia Gunarsa (17) have reached a breakthrough, thanks to chat messages found between the victim and the perpetrator, named Mahendra Very Dwi Anggara (22), on social media. The girl from Bergas, Semarang Regency, had been reported missing a year before her body was discovered.

Mozza’s father, Singgih Gunarsa, explained that the conversations with the perpetrator came to light after he went through his daughter’s tablet. He then opened Mozza’s social media accounts and saw her chats with the perpetrator.

“It turned out that in the email there were Mozza’s Instagram and TikTok accounts still linked, but they weren’t on the app itself. So in the end I changed all the passwords of her email for my own personal use,” Singgih said when met by journalists at his home, as reported by detikJateng on Monday (7/9/2026).

“Then I reinstalled the app and reset the forgotten passwords. Eventually I managed to open all the apps and could see the contents of the DMs, chats, and everything Mozza’s friends had sent through the apps, including the DMs of the suspect,” he added.

Singgih revealed that the perpetrator often invited his daughter to hang out at his boarding house in Candisari, Semarang City. Mozza had visited there once, and their communication continued via WhatsApp.

“Mozza was asked several times to come and hang out at that boarding house. From what I recall, the first time she went there was once. Then she came home, and they communicated intensively, probably via WhatsApp,” Singgih said.

After that, Singgih said, the perpetrator kept inviting Mozza back to the boarding house. Because Mozza was preparing for her university entrance exams at the time, she declined the invitations.

“But in the DMs, Mozza was repeatedly asked to come to the boarding house. Mozza refused. Almost two, almost three times Mozza was asked to come, but she refused because at that time she was preparing for her entrance exam at Undip,” Singgih explained.

Once the university entrance exams were finished, Mozza finally agreed to meet at Very’s boarding house on 25 June 2025. Tragically, that meeting ended in disaster for Mozza.

“On the 25th, perhaps it happened that Mozza had finished her exams, so she agreed to go there again to hang out, and instead what happened was that (she was killed),” Singgih revealed.

Singgih admitted that he did not recognise the man who killed his daughter. To this day, he has never met the man and was only shown his photograph by police.

“I didn’t know him at all from the beginning, not even acquaintances. Based on the information I received from the media, they had only known each other for a month,” Singgih said.

“After leaving Bhayangkara Hospital, I went to Polrestabes but only to file a report. I didn’t meet the perpetrator; I was only shown his photograph,” he added.
