A video depicting two males kissing on the Jakarta State Polytechnic (PNJ) campus has gone viral on social media. The father of one of the students, identified by the initials ARM, apologised and even prostrated himself before university authorities regarding his child’s actions.

In the circulating footage, the two individuals were seen surrounded by PNJ students on Tuesday (2/6/2026) evening at the PNJ campus in Depok. The father of one of the participants was also present at the scene. During the incident, the father was seen bowing his head and repeatedly holding his head while ARM provided an explanation to the students and university officials. The father then stood up to offer an apology to the entire student body and the PNJ institution, even prostrating himself during the process.

PNJ Head of Public Relations, Andhika Rizkyansyah, confirmed the presence of ARM’s father at the campus last night and verified that the parent had prostrated himself to apologise. “As seen in the videos circulating in the media, that appears to be the case. The person who prostrated was the student’s parent, not an external party,” Andhika stated on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

The viral video shows two men kissing in an area outside a room, believed to be a corridor near the library, recorded by someone from inside the room. Other footage shows students approaching the pair to ask for their identities.

PNJ Public Relations staff, Soraya, confirmed that the incident occurred on Tuesday (2/6) at the PNJ campus in Depok. She noted that one of the men in the video is a PNJ student, while the other is not a student of the institution. “It did indeed happen within the campus environment and was discovered by several students,” Soraya told reporters in Depok on Wednesday.

She added that the university is taking steps to prevent further unwanted incidents. The student, ARM, and his male companion, AW, were secured to protect them from the anger of others on campus. According to the university, AW allegedly visited ARM on campus, and the two are believed to have known each other previously. However, PNJ will conduct a more thorough investigation. “Since an external party came to meet our student, we are still in the stage of presumption regarding their relationship. While they met, we are maintaining the privacy of those involved regarding the deeper chronology of the event,” she concluded.
