Father of Sukabumi Boy Who Died Now Under Scrutiny, KPAI Says He Frequently Committed Domestic Violence Against the Child

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) met with the family of NS, a 13-year-old boy who died after being abused by his stepmother in Sukabumi. KPAI received reports that NS’s father frequently committed domestic violence and had not visited his son’s grave.

KPAI initially met with NS’s biological mother, Lisnawati, on Monday, 23rd February 2026. Following this meeting, KPAI conducted an inspection on Wednesday, 25th February, in Jampang Kulon and Palabuhan Ratu. During this inspection, KPAI commissioners met with NS’s uncle’s family.

The family stated that NS’s father frequently committed acts of violence. NS’s father was also not officially married to NS’s stepmother.

“The biological father also frequently committed acts of violence, and he has not even visited his son’s grave. The father and stepmother were not officially married, only religiously,” said KPAI commissioner, Diyah Puspitarini, on Thursday, 26th February 2026.

The family often reminded NS’s biological father not to commit violence. However, he did not heed their warnings. NS’s stepmother also frequently experienced domestic violence from her husband.

“The stepmother also often experienced domestic violence from her husband, which is one of the reasons she committed violence against NS,” she said.

In addition, KPAI has also held a meeting with the Sukabumi Police Chief. KPAI appreciates the police’s decision to name NS’s stepmother as a suspect.

“KPAI held a meeting with the Sukabumi Police Chief and appreciates the police for naming the stepmother as a suspect on Wednesday afternoon, before KPAI arrived,” she said.

Previously, Sukabumi Police Chief AKBP Samian stated that the suspect was named after investigators investigated the case of the child’s death due to violence.

“Regarding the case of the child’s death due to violence that occurred at the Sukabumi Police, the Criminal Investigation Unit has named a suspect, namely TR, who is the stepmother. TR has been named as a suspect on suspicion of committing violence, both physical and psychological,” said Samian at the Sukabumi Police Headquarters, as reported by detikJabar, Wednesday, 25th February.
