Father in Samarinda Rapes Stepdaughter, Impregnates 15-Year-Old
A father in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, has committed a heinous act by raping his stepdaughter for years, resulting in the 15-year-old becoming five months pregnant. The abuse began when the victim was still in elementary school.
Rina Zainun, head of the East Kalimantan Rapid Response Team for the Protection of Women and Children (TRC PPA), revealed that the indecent acts started in 2020 when the victim was in the 5th grade and continued repeatedly. The case came to light after the victim’s Quran teacher noticed physical changes and questioned her. Although initially reluctant to speak, the victim eventually confessed.
The teacher then conducted an independent pregnancy test, which returned a positive result, and reported the findings to the East Kalimantan Office of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DP3A). The case was subsequently forwarded to the TRC PPA for assessment and psychological support.
Based on the assessment, the abuse began with molestation when the victim was in elementary school and escalated to forced intercourse by January 2026. The victim attempted to fight back by hitting the perpetrator but was overpowered due to his larger physique. A medical ultrasound examination confirmed the pregnancy had reached five months.
During initial questioning, the suspected perpetrator denied the allegations and gave inconsistent statements, only admitting to kissing and molestation. Under further pressure, he confessed to most of his actions, though his admission still does not fully align with the medical evidence of the pregnancy.
The TRC PPA accompanied the victim’s family to file an official police report on Friday, 25 June. Police investigators are currently pursuing the case for further legal proceedings. The joint team, together with DP3A East Kalimantan, is focusing on providing legal aid, psychological recovery, and health monitoring for both the mother and foetus. Given the victim’s minor status, comprehensive protection is essential to minimise trauma. Rina stated that the victim is currently pregnant, terrified, crying continuously, and experiencing extreme anxiety, fearing to return home and face the alleged perpetrator.
