Father Forgives Suspect, Seeks to Withdraw Report in Bogor Dog Attack Case

The family of a young boy killed by a hunting dog in Jasinga, Bogor, has forgiven the dog owner’s negligence. The victim’s father, Solehudin, has requested the withdrawal of the police report related to the incident.

‘I am the father of the victim. The point is I have come to terms with it. What happened has happened. I have forgiven the perpetrator for the incident involving my child,’ Solehudin told reporters on Friday (19/6/2026).

Solehudin said he has accepted the fate of his second child. He hopes the matter can be resolved quickly and that such an incident will not recur. He also confirmed that he has submitted a request to withdraw the report to the police.

‘The point is I do not want this to happen again in the future. Let my child be enough. I hope there will be no more incidents like this going forward,’ Solehudin said.

‘A letter of request to withdraw the report has been submitted to the Bogor Police. There is already a withdrawal letter. The point is the family has come to terms with it and has forgiven the other party. So, I ask the police, the Bogor Police, to promptly withdraw my complaint so this matter can be resolved quickly. It is settled,’ he added.

Separately, the suspect’s legal counsel, Afdhal Muhamad, stated that a reconciliation process was carried out on 10 June. Afdhal claims to have submitted a peace agreement letter to the Bogor Police.

‘Alhamdulillah, on 10 June 2026 at the Bogor Police, we reached a direct peace agreement between the representative of the suspect’s family and the victim’s family, namely Mr Soleh, the victim’s biological father, and it was signed,’ said Afhdal.

‘That same evening, we also submitted the request for withdrawal, the mediation request, and the peace agreement to the Bogor Police, and a receipt has been issued,’ he continued.

Afdhal stated he visited the victim’s family in Jasinga, Bogor, as a representative of the suspect. The visit was a follow-up to the reconciliation previously conducted.

‘So our visit was a follow-up to the reconciliation or peace agreement we had made between the victim’s family and Mr Soleh, the victim’s biological father. And we request the Bogor Police to follow up on the contents of the request submitted by the victim’s family to the police,’ Afdhal said.

It was previously reported that a 9-year-old boy died after being bitten by a boar-hunting dog in Jasinga, Bogor, West Java. The victim was bitten while fishing with a friend.

The Bogor Police subsequently conducted an investigation into the incident and named the dog owner, identified by the initial Y, as a suspect. Y is charged under Article 474 paragraph 3 and/or Article 336 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. The potential penalties include a maximum prison sentence of five years or a maximum category V fine, as well as a maximum prison sentence of five months and/or a maximum category II fine.
