Dodo Siagian and Nasio Siagian, a father and son in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, are now facing police charges and have been officially named as suspects. This action stems from an assault incident triggered by their neighbour’s drum playing.

The incident gained attention after a video circulated online, as seen by detikcom on Monday, February 9th. The video shows the victim already being beaten by the perpetrators, with several people attempting to intervene.

The case was subsequently reported to the West Jakarta Metro Police with report number LP/B/359/II/2026/SPKT Polres Metro Jakarta Barat, dated February 7th, 2026. The victim reported the incident under Article 262 of the Criminal Code.

Both parties filed reports. The victim claimed to have been choked and hit by the perpetrators, while the perpetrators, the father and son, reported the victim for alleged threats.

Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the reports. He stated that the alleged assault is currently being handled by the West Jakarta Metro Police.

“Currently, the victim has filed a report with the West Jakarta Police and it is being handled by the West Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit,” said Budi Hermanto when contacted for confirmation on Monday, February 9th.

“Similarly, the reported parties, the perpetrators of the assault, also filed a police report regarding alleged threats or threats of vandalism if the drum playing, which disturbs public order, does not stop,” said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters.

He stated that the police will investigate the case thoroughly. He added that every report filed with the police is the right of every citizen.

“Here, the police receive reports from all citizens if they report an event or incident to the police station. This is an absolute right of all citizens, so there is no discrimination, no favouritism, as long as the case meets the elements of a crime, there is evidence, and there are witnesses,” he added.

Perpetrators of the Assault Named as Suspects

The police then announced the progress of the reports from both parties. Dodo Siagian and Nasio Siagian, the father and son suspected of assaulting their neighbour in Kapuk, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, have been named as suspects.

Head of Public Relations of the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Wisnu Wirawan, in Jakarta, Wednesday, stated that both are charged with multiple articles related to assault because they were proven to have committed a criminal act on Saturday, February 7th.

“Both suspects are charged with multiple articles, first Article 262 of the Criminal Code sub Article 466 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, which is about joint violence,” said Wisnu, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 25th.

He explained that after both were named as suspects, the police immediately summoned them for questioning and the case files were registered with the court.

From the results of the follow-up investigation, investigators concluded that all elements of the crime had been met.

Father and Son, Perpetrators of the Assault, Detained

Furthermore, Wisnu said that both perpetrators are now being detained. All elements of the crime have been met.

“From the results of the examination and the latest investigation, all elements of the crime have been met, then another hearing was held. Only yesterday, on February 24th, the detention of both perpetrators was carried out,” said Wisnu.

However, the police will continue to carry out the legal process according to procedure.

“The next step is to coordinate and submit the suspect’s files and detention to the West Jakarta District Attorney’s Office,” he said.

Police Open Option for Restorative Justice

For their actions, the perpetrators also face a fairly heavy punishment. The father and son face a prison sentence of 5 years for jointly committing assault.

Despite the heavy sentence, police are open to the possibility of resolving the case through restorative justice.

“But, based on this new Criminal Procedure Code, it is not impossible to carry out ‘restorative justice’. However, it depends on how both parties agree,” he said.
