JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Dodo Siagian and Nasio Siagian, the suspects in the assault case of a neighbour in Kapuk, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, face a sentence of seven years in prison for their actions.

Head of Public Relations of the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Wisnu Wirawan, said that the designation of the suspects had gone through a long series of investigations.

“Yes, yesterday there was an increase in status in the case. Precisely yesterday, on the 19th (February), it started with a case presentation and the designation of the suspects,” said Wisnu when met by Kompas.com at the West Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

Based on the results of the follow-up examination, investigators concluded that all criminal elements in the case had been met.

“From the results of the examination and the latest investigation, all the criminal elements have been met, then another presentation was held. Only yesterday, on the 24th (February 2026), the two perpetrators were detained,” he explained.

He added that investigators applied multiple articles to the two perpetrators, who are father and son, on suspicion of group assault.

“The two suspects have been charged with multiple articles, first Article 262 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary to Article 466 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, which is about violence together,” said Wisnu.

Even though the threat of punishment they face is quite severe, Wisnu said that the possibility of settlement through the restorative justice (RJ) mechanism is still open.

However, while waiting for the possibility of mediation between the victim and the suspects, the police will continue to carry out the legal process according to procedure.

“The next step is to coordinate and submit the suspect’s files and detention to the West Jakarta District Attorney,” he concluded.

Previously, it was reported that a resident named Darwin (32) was a victim of assault by his neighbour on Jalan Dahlia III, Kapuk, Cengkareng, West Jakarta.

The assault committed by the father and son was triggered by a trivial matter, namely not accepting being reprimanded about the noise from the drum being played by the son.

However, the victim’s reprimand turned into an assault.
