Father and Son Drum Duo Who Assaulted Neighbour in West Jakarta Named as Suspects
Police have named two men as suspects in connection with the assault of their neighbour in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, after a dispute over drumming.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Arfan Zulkan Sipayung, said that Dodo Siagian and Nasio Siagian were named as suspects based on the results of a case review. Both were immediately detained after being named as suspects.
“Yesterday, we held a case review, and now both of them have been detained,” Arfan told reporters.
For their actions, both suspects are charged under Article 170 of the Criminal Code regarding the crime of violence committed together, with a maximum prison sentence of five years and six months.
Arfan said that his team would also coordinate with the West Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office to hand over the case files of both suspects so that they can be tried soon.
“Next, we will coordinate directly with the prosecutor’s office regarding all the files. We will update you again soon,” he said.
Previously, the assault was recorded in a video and went viral on social media. In the video, the victim is seen being beaten by the perpetrators.
During the incident, several people were seen trying to intervene. However, instead of stopping, the perpetrators appeared to kick the victim’s face, causing him pain.
The case was then reported to the West Jakarta Metro Police with report number LP/B/359/II/2026/SPKT Polres Metro Jakarta Barat dated February 7, 2026. The victim reported the incident under Article 262 of the Criminal Code.
In the police report, it was stated that the victim initially reprimanded the perpetrators for playing the drums. The reprimand was given because the perpetrators played the drums from day to night, which was said to disturb the surrounding neighbours.
The perpetrators were also said to have promised to install soundproofing, but the sound of the drums could still be heard. In short, on the day of the incident, the victim had an argument with the perpetrators.
In the report, the victim also stated that he was hit by the perpetrators’ father’s car, causing him to fall. The perpetrators also choked and kicked the victim.
