Fate of Thousands of Idle MBG Electric Motorcycles in Warehouses Revealed
Jakarta – Amid the investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of electric motorcycles for the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has confirmed that thousands of units currently stored in warehouses will not be entirely seized as evidence. Instead, the Adhyaksa Corps is requesting the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to accelerate the distribution of these vehicles so they can be immediately utilised to support the programme’s operations in various regions.
Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that investigators do not need all the units for evidentiary purposes. “Not all of them need to be evidence. Moreover, this is a public service, so we will not seize all the motorcycles as evidence,” he told reporters, quoted on Sunday, 14 June 2026.
He explained that the investigation’s current focus is on tracing the procurement process and the parties involved in the project. Therefore, the presence of the motorcycles still sitting in warehouses should not hinder the implementation of the government programme. Syarief revealed that the majority of the BGN-procured electric motorcycles are still in warehouses, including in the Sentul area of Bogor, West Java. Only a limited number have reached their destinations and are being used to support the operations of MBG kitchens.
“We will also push, in cooperation with BGN, to immediately complete the distribution process for these motorcycles. Because until now, the motorcycles are still in warehouses. Only a small portion have arrived at their destinations, where the people and the kitchens are located,” he said.
Behind the decision not to seize the electric motorcycles, investigators have already gathered preliminary evidence of suspected legal violations in the procurement process. The Attorney General’s Office suspects price inflation occurred from the stage of drafting the Owner Estimate (HPS) through to the procurement process, with the value reaching approximately Rp47 million per unit. Investigators are also still examining the rationale for including electric motorcycles in the MBG programme and the mechanism that allowed the project to be realised. “Why electric motorcycles appeared, that is what we are currently investigating. But we have certainly obtained sufficient evidence that there was an unlawful act in the procurement process of these electric motorcycles. We will convey this later,” he said.
