Fate of Habibie's IPTN
Fate of Habibie's IPTN
From Kompas
As an Indonesian, I was very sad to learn the fate of the
National Aircraft Industry (IPTN), which in the past decade was
the prima donna of Indonesia's strategic industry, demonstrating
the country's hi-tech leap into the 21st century.
IPTN now languishes in obscurity and is reportedly producing
pans. It's a pity, isn't it? Accordingly, I'm putting this
forward to B.J. Habibie in the hope that he'll never forsake
those he once groomed in IPTN, who now are struggling to save the
capital and human investment.
I personally appreciate what you have done as a former
president of this country: you have set up the Habibie Center for
the study of democracy. But it will be more respectable of you if
you save IPTN from bankruptcy. At least you could contribute your
thoughts on management and the sharpness of your marketing
vision, and help to restructure the company and use the Habibie
name, which has world renown.
