Fate of Green SM Electric Taxi Driver After Train Collision in East Bekasi

Police have revealed the fate of the Green SM online electric taxi driver whose vehicle was struck by a train, resulting in an accident between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a KRL at East Bekasi Station. Head of the Accident Data Collection, Processing, and Analysis Section at Korlantas Polri, Kompol Sandhi Wiedyanoe, stated that the driver has been secured and is undergoing intensive questioning at Polres Metro Bekasi Kota. “The driver has been secured at Polres Metro Bekasi Kota for further investigation by the Head of Traffic Police,” he told reporters at the scene on Tuesday (28/4). Sandhi explained that the incident began due to an electrical short circuit in the electric online taxi vehicle at an ungated level crossing. He described how the short-circuited electric car was then struck by a KRL from Cikarang towards Jakarta. As a result, he said, it disrupted the travel of other trains. “The accident involving the train and the electric car was actually only material damage. However, it caused disruption to other train journeys, with the KRL waiting for the evacuation process,” he stated. Sandhi said that information about the train collision was allegedly not fully conveyed to the Argo Bromo Anggrek train. In fact, he noted, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train was travelling at high speed of 110 kilometres per hour. “Due to the lack of information and coordination, the collision occurred at East Bekasi Station, more precisely, resulting in several fatalities,” he explained. He added that officials are currently conducting an investigation using the Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) method. This involves reconstructing the accident process before, during, and after the incident. “The aim is to assist Polri traffic accident investigators in clarifying traffic crime offences,” he concluded.
