Fate of Former Sleman Police Chief Kombes Edy Following Hogi Minaya Case: Removed, Demoted and Transferred to Police Legal Division
Jakarta – Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has implemented a major reshuffle and rotation of Indonesian National Police (Polri) officials. One such official is former Sleman Police Resort Chief (Kapolresta) Kombes Pol Edy Setyanto Erning Wibowo, who has been transferred to the Police Legal Division (Divkum).
The transfer and rotation were outlined in Police Chief Telegram Letter No. ST/440/II/KEP/2026, dated 27 February 2026, signed by the Deputy for Human Resources, Inspector General Pol Anwar.
In response, the Head of Polri Public Relations Division, Inspector General Pol Jhonny Eddison Isir, stated that the transfer and rotation represented standard organisational refreshment.
“Transfer and rotation of positions within Polri is a normal matter as part of career development, organisational refreshment, and to enhance the performance and professionalism of personnel in providing the best service to the community,” Jhonny said in a statement on Saturday 28 February 2026.
The position of Kapolresta Sleman, previously held by Kombes Edy Setyanto Erning Wibowo, has been filled by Kombes Adhitya Panji Anom, who previously served as Accreditor of the Internal Affairs Division (Divpropam) Rank III Police Accreditation.
Earlier, the Yogyakarta Regional Police had temporarily suspended Sleman Police Resort Chief Kombes Pol Edy Setyanto Erning Wibowo.
The suspension was based on recommendations from a Special Purpose Audit (ADTT) conducted by the Yogyakarta Regional Police’s Regional Supervisory Inspectorate (Itwasda).
Head of Public Relations Division Information Section, Brigadier General Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko emphasised that the suspension reflected Polri’s commitment to maintaining professionalism, transparency, and institutional accountability.
“This temporary suspension is conducted solely to ensure objectivity in further investigation and to guarantee that the law enforcement process proceeds professionally, transparently, and equitably,” said Brigadier General Pol Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in a written statement.
The special audit was conducted on 26 January 2026 concerning the handling of an armed robbery case and a traffic accident that occurred on 26 April 2025.
In the case, a husband named Hogi Minaya was named a suspect after pursuing a robber who had snatched his wife’s belongings, which resulted in the robber’s death due to an accident.
During the audit, weaknesses were found in leadership oversight, as the investigation process generated public controversy and damaged the image of Polri.
