Fate of Former Bima Police Chief AKBP Didik: Already Dismissed, Now Facing Death Penalty Over Drug Case
Jakarta, VIVA – Former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro has been officially dismissed from the Indonesian National Police (Polri) following an ethics hearing on Thursday, 19 February 2026. Didik now faces the most severe penalty possible in the narcotics case ensnaring him: the death sentence.
In addition to his dishonourable discharge (PTDH), Didik has been named a suspect in two drug cases. With two distinct legal constructions — receiving proceeds from illegal drug trafficking and narcotics possession — the legal net tightening around Didik has grown ever more severe.
“With the threat of the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and/or a maximum fine as referred to in Paragraph (1) plus one-third, or a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and/or a maximum fine of Category VII,” said the Director of Narcotics Crime at the Criminal Investigation Agency (Dirtipid Narkoba Bareskrim) of the National Police, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, as quoted on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
Didik has been charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (2) or Article 137 Letter A of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics. The maximum penalty under these provisions is death.
On 11 February 2026, Didik underwent interrogation by Polri’s Professional and Security Division (Divpropam) regarding his links to the case involving Bima City Police Narcotics Unit Head AKP Maulangi. Shortly thereafter, on 16 February 2026, the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police named him a suspect in the alleged receipt of proceeds from narcotics crimes.
However, the charges against Didik did not stop there. A second case, now being handled by Bareskrim Polri, concerns drug possession. Evidence was discovered in a suitcase at the residence of policewoman First Sergeant Dianita Agustina. The entire contents of the suitcase were acknowledged as belonging to Didik and were said to have been for his personal consumption.
The Narcotics Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri announced on Friday, 13 February, that AKBP Didik had been named a suspect in the alleged drug possession case.
The unravelling of the case began with the arrest of two domestic workers employed by police suspect Brigadier IR and his wife, AN, who were found with 30.415 grammes of methamphetamine as evidence at their private residence. Interrogation by the NTB Regional Police Narcotics Directorate revealed the involvement of AKP Maulangi (ML) in the network.
Subsequent examination by the NTB Regional Police Professional and Security Division of AKP ML returned positive results for amphetamine and methamphetamine. A search of AKP ML’s office and official residence then uncovered five packets of methamphetamine weighing a total of 488.496 grammes.
