Fate of female workers
Fate of female workers
From Pelita
Recently we have heard a lot of stories about the maltreatment
of female Indonesian workers abroad. Many of those working in
Singapore, who were treated badly by their bosses, have fled the
country.
Minister of Women's Roles Mien Sugandhi believes the fate of
Indonesian workers in Malaysia and Hong Kong is even worse.
We can then conclude women workers abroad face the same fate
wherever they are.
I believe that Indonesian female workers are not robots. They
are human beings who have souls and hearts. They may get tired
after a hard day. The Indonesian government, which is concerned
about social affairs, should reconsider the policy of exporting
women workers, or perhaps should stop sending them altogether.
