The coastal area of Pangandaran, Cilacap, is not only
beautiful but also a place for breeding tukik (baby sea turtles)
until they are big enough to enter the sea. The event is often
covered by the media.

However, it is frequently reported that of the thousands of
young turtles only a small percentage make it to adulthood
because numerous predators are ready to feast on them.

Even more sadly, the baby turtles are caught by the local
fishermen, who turn them into a commodity. The intestines of the
animals are taken out, and their bodies are hardened by soaking
them in hydrochloric acid. You can find lots of them on display
in the market. How can they do such a thing to innocent animals?
