Fatal robbery enacted

JAKARTA (JP): Police re-enacted Saturday the Jagorawi toll road robbery, which took place on Oct. 11 last year and claimed one life, without the two main suspects .

The two suspects, identified as Bud alias Win and Sal, alias Is, are still at large and two officers played them in the reconstruction.

The reconstruction, which involved three suspects, IJA, Mc and Ag, was attended by the suspects' lawyer Agustinus Mudjiman.

Mudjiman said the reconstruction ran smoothly despite the main suspects' absence.

Bogor Police Chief Col. Dadang Garnida said the two fugitives, residents of Cilodong, Bogor and Bandar Lampung, Lampung, were on the list of wanted people, Antara reported.

"It would be better for them to surrender," Dadang said.

The robbery took place when three unidentified men, one with a gun, shot to death Zaenuddin Lesmana, a private employee, and robbed him of Rp 230 million (US$99,000).

The victim's companions, Tjetje Tadjuddin and Nurman Lubis escaped unhurt.

Police found a bullet shell from an FN 45 gun at the scene before questioning them. The FN 45 is a type of gun used by the Army.

Tjetje and Nurman were then declared the suspects and detained. Tjetje was tortured to death in police custody. A police lieutenant was sacked over his death.

Dadang Garnida said Saturday police had not revealed where the robbers got the gun allegedly used to shoot Zaenuddin. (sur)
