PT KAI continues efforts to address the impacts of the incident at Bekasi Timur Station. Hundreds of passengers have chosen to cancel tickets they had already purchased. Manager of Public Relations for Daop 3 Cirebon, Muhibbuddin, stated that as of Tuesday (28/4) at 17:00 WIB, 154 long-distance train tickets had been refunded by passengers in the Daop 3 Cirebon area, covering Cirebon, Cirebon Prujakan, Jatibarang, Haurgeulis, and Brebes stations. Muhibbuddin explained that KAI is implementing a 100% ticket fee refund (excluding booking fees) for customers affected by delays, route changes, or trip cancellations. The application deadline is seven days from the scheduled departure date on the ticket, with fund disbursement aimed to be completed within a maximum of 1 x 24 hours after cancellation. Additionally, full baggage fee refunds are provided if customers do not travel. “KAI provides a 100% ticket fee refund excluding booking fees for affected customers. We ensure the entire process is easily accessible through various service channels,” said Muhibbuddin on Tuesday (28/4/2026). In detail, refunds are given to customers cancelling trips due to delays, postponements of more than one hour, route changes, or those opting not to use replacement trains or onward transport modes. The policy also covers return tickets, connecting tickets, and KAI Group services under one booking code that are affected. Muhibbuddin explained that on 28 April 2026 at 01:04 WIB, the downstream Bekasi–Tambun line had been successfully opened and could be traversed. However, the upstream line is still undergoing intensive evacuation, impacting schedules in the Daop 3 Cirebon area. “Currently, train services in the Daop 3 Cirebon area are still experiencing delays in line with operational normalisation efforts. We apologise for this inconvenience and continue to strive to accelerate track recovery while prioritising safety aspects,” he added. Based on data up to 13:26 WIB, there were 15 fatalities (evacuated to RS Polri Kramat Jati) and 88 injured victims currently receiving medical treatment. KAI fully entrusts the investigation of the accident’s cause to the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT). KAI has also prepared an Information Post at Bekasi Timur Station to help families obtain information about passengers. Medical teams, Basarnas, KAI, TNI, and Polri are working together in a coordinated manner on-site to ensure every victim receives the best assistance. The Information Post will be available for 14 days at Gambir Station and Bekasi Timur Station. All handling is followed up through the posts, including services for affected long-distance train customers. For further information: Call Centre 121 or WhatsApp 0811-2223-3121. “We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and the bereaved families. We also apologise for the inconvenience experienced by customers in this situation,” stated Muhibbuddin.
