Police have named Ahmad Warsito (AW), the President Director of PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi, as a suspect in the fatal accident that killed 16 people on the Krapyak Toll Road in Semarang, Central Java. Police have urged public transport operators to guarantee the safety of their passengers.

"We appeal to all owners, transport operators, and route holders to provide safety guarantees to passengers who will use their transport services, given that in the coming weeks there is predicted to be an increase in public transport users during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period. We hope that traffic accidents resulting in fatalities among passengers in such large numbers will not occur again," said Semarang Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner M Syahduddi on Wednesday (18 February 2026).

Police reminded public transport operators to comply with regulations. This was conveyed as evidence of the police's commitment to justice for the victims.

"We remind all public transport and transportation service owners to strictly comply with regulations, standard operating procedures, and prevailing legislation. What we have conveyed today represents our commitment to providing a sense of justice to all parties connected to the accident that occurred some time ago," he explained.

The Cahaya Trans bus was involved in an accident at the Krapyak Toll Road exit in December 2025, resulting in 16 fatalities.

The bus driver, Gilang, had previously been named as a suspect. It emerged that during the recruitment process, Gilang was only tested on parking the bus. He was then immediately assigned to carry passengers.

The investigation subsequently continued until Ahmad Warsito, as President Director of PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi, was named as a suspect. Warsito was deemed to have failed to perform his supervisory function over the operations of PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi.
