Fatal crash in Muarojambi claims lives of family of three
A fatal crash occurred on the provincial road in Desa Kebun IX, Sungai Gelam District, Muarojambi Regency, Jambi. A family consisting of a father, mother, and toddler died in a chain collision involving a motorcycle, minibus, and truck on Thursday (28 May).
The three victims were locals: Wasis Priyono (37), his wife Siti Khodijah, and their four-year-old son Akmar Aroyan. The couple died at the scene, while their son passed away en route to Royal Hospital in Jambi City.
According to reports, the incident began when Wasis Priyono was riding a motorcycle with his wife and child on the provincial road. A white Daihatsu Sigra minibus (plate BH 1124), driven by Vinta (32), suddenly turned right. The close proximity prevented Wasis from avoiding the collision, causing the motorcycle to hit the left front of the minibus. The impact hurled the motorcycle and its three passengers to the right side of the road.
Unfortunately, at the same time, a dump truck (plate BH 8519 HK) driven by Alwizal (52) was speeding from the opposite direction behind the minibus. Due to the extremely short distance, the truck driver could not brake in time, and the truck’s wheels ran over the victims lying on the asphalt.
Muaro Jambi Police Chief of Traffic, Assistant Commissioner Yudha Bhara A Putra, confirmed the fatal crash that claimed three lives. He stated that police had responded to the scene to conduct a crime scene investigation and evacuate the victims.
The drivers and both vehicles involved in the crash have been detained at the police station for further investigation under legal procedures.
The case is currently under investigation by the Muaro Jambi Traffic Police Unit to determine the exact cause and any negligence in the fatal incident.
