Fatal Crash Between Truck and Motorcycle on Timor Raya Road Kills Two

Two men, Petrus Juan Naiheli (22) and Yenrit Boymau (20), were reported dead after colliding with a truck on Timor Raya Road in Maunum Village, Amanuban Tengah Subdistrict, Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday evening (30/5/2026).

“I confirm two fatalities at the scene. I immediately went to the location,” said Kasatlantas of TTS Police Residency, Iptu I Gusti Komang Astina, on Saturday.

Komang explained that the accident began when Petrus was carrying Yenrit on a Honda CRF motorcycle travelling from Soe to Kefamenanu in Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) Regency.

Upon arriving at the scene, there was a downhill road causing both to veer off the lane. At the same time, a Sindo Expres truck was travelling from Kefamenanu to Soe, resulting in an unavoidable collision. The truck was driven by Yulius Seran (42) from Kelapa Lima Village, Kupang City.

“The motorcyclist veered onto the right side of the road and directly collided with the oncoming truck,” Komang stated.

In the accident, Komang said Petrus and Yenrit died at the scene due to impact injuries across their bodies. Police later evacuated the bodies to Niki-niki Health Centre for medical handling.

“I am currently at Niki-niki Health Centre waiting for the victims’ families to arrive,” Komang explained.

The truck driver was immediately detained at Amanuban Tengah Police Station. Police plan to file a report and conduct autopsies on both bodies.

“For now, I am preparing the police report and requesting post-mortems. Next, witness statements will be taken,” Komang added.
