Fatal crash at Pesanggaran four-way junction as electric motorcycle rider dies; car driver flees the scene

Fatal traffic accident occurred at the four-way intersection of Jalan Bypass I Gusti Ngurah Rai-Jalan Diponegoro Km 8, Pesanggaran, Denpasar Selatan (TL Pesanggaran), on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at approximately 01:45 WITA. The electric motorcycle rider died at the scene.

The victim was identified as FAH (27), a man from Banyuwangi, East Java. At the time of the incident, he was riding a Gova electric motorcycle with registration plate DK 3881 FDR. Denpasar City Traffic Police Chief Kompol Yusuf Dwi Admodjo confirmed the incident. The accident report was received by police around 02:00 WITA.

“An accident occurred at the TL Pesanggaran intersection at approximately 01:45 WITA and was reported at around 02:00 WITA. One electric motorcycle rider died at the scene,” he said.

Based on initial investigations, the crash involved an electric motorcycle and a car, whose identity and registration plate are not yet known. The car driver is currently under investigation.

Yusuf explained that before the incident the car moved from north to south while the traffic signal was green. As it entered the intersection, the vehicle collided with the electric motorcycle travelling from east to west. “The electric motorcycle is suspected of running a red light while crossing the intersection, causing the collision,” he said.

As a result of the impact, the victim fell and sustained serious injuries, including bleeding from the nose and ear, swelling of both eyes and the right cheek. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. After the incident, the car driver fled the scene.

“The car driver fled the scene and is currently under investigation. We are continuing efforts to search for and collect evidence at the site,” Yusuf stressed.
