Fatal Collision Involving Students Leads to Banten Official Being Named Suspect
Police have named Ahmad Mursidi, the head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) in Pandeglang, Banten, as a suspect. Ahmad Mursidi was designated a suspect after crashing into a crowd of students from SDN Sukaratu 5.
“Based on the case review results, he has been designated as a suspect,” said Pandeglang Police Chief AKBP Dhyno Indra Setyadi to reporters on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Ahmad was not detained. Dhyno explained that this was because Ahmad was in poor health and had guarantees from his family.
“No detention was carried out because he is currently ill,” Dhyno said.
Two Victims Died
The collision took place in Majasari Subdistrict, Pandeglang Regency, on Thursday (30/4) around 09:30 WIB. A Toyota Innova with licence plate A-1633-BF, driven by Ahmad Mursidi, struck a crowd of SDN Sukaratu 5 students.
Nine people were victims in the incident. Two others were reported dead: Dewi Handayani, a trader; and Muhamad Milal, a student.
The parent of the deceased victim, Tuti Hidayati, hopes that the person who hit her child and the other students will be prosecuted in accordance with applicable legal regulations.
“It must be processed according to the applicable rules. But it comes back, sometimes the law in our country is like that. Yesterday the police suggested mediation, so I just focused on the child first. As for the perpetrator, later when I and the child recover first,” she said.
Tuti then demanded justice for losing her biological son. Tuti hopes the investigation of this case is conducted transparently.
“I hope for the fairest justice, at least he takes responsibility for his actions in whatever form. And the process should not be covered up. If mediation is indeed wanted, it should not be covered up. The perpetrator is an official, afraid (the case) will just disappear,” she said.
Hit a Crowd in Front of the School
The Head of Traffic Police at Pandeglang Police Resort, AKP Surya Muhammad, said the vehicle was travelling from Cikole Junction towards Cipacung Junction. Upon reaching the location, the car swerved to the right and hit a crowd of students who were in front of the school.
“We explain regarding the traffic accident in front of SDN Sukaratu 5, which involved a black Toyota Innova vehicle driven by Ahmad Mursidi, which hit a crowd of schoolchildren in front of the elementary school,” said AKP Surya on Thursday (30/4).
There were nine victims in the incident. All victims were mostly students, while the other two were a trader and a salesperson. At that time, one student was reported dead.
When driving, Ahmad Mursidi had an oxygen tube attached to his body. The individual suffers from diabetes.
