Fatal Assault on TNI Member in Tangerang Triggered by Queue Dispute Over Sate Taichan

Seven individuals have been arrested and named as suspects in the fatal assault of an Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) member in Tangerang Regency, Banten. The case was triggered by a dispute over a sate taichan order queue. “The incident began in a parking area where there was a sate taichan vendor. The perpetrators ordered about four portions of sate taichan. However, according to the victim, the sate taichan belonged to him,” said South Tangerang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Wira Graha Setiawan on Monday (27/7/2026). Both parties then engaged in an argument regarding the food order queue. The situation escalated until the suspects struck the victim, TNI soldier Prada Arif Budi Sampurna. Several individuals chased the victim. One of the suspects, who was carrying a sharp weapon, then stabbed the victim multiple times. “So the initial argument led to several people hitting him first, then chasing him, until finally on a main road the victim was stabbed 10 times,” he said. The fatal assault occurred on Jalan Raya Pondok Hijau Golf, precisely in front of the Turquoise Cluster junction, Curug Sangereng Village, Kelapa Dua District, Tangerang Regency. The victim’s body was discovered on Sunday (19/7) at around 5.30 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. The seven suspects have the initials BR (36), RRGB (22), MKN (28), EYR (21), AEL (22), SS (39), and FNK (27). He explained that the first cluster consists of two suspects, MKN and BR, who played a role in chasing the victim. The second cluster comprises three suspects, FNK, RRGB, and AEL, who chased and struck the victim. Meanwhile, the third cluster is SS, who chased, struck, and took the victim’s mobile phone. “The fourth cluster is EYR, who is suspected of chasing, beating, and stabbing the victim using a knife,” he said. The first four suspects were arrested by a joint team within 24 hours of the fatal assault on Prada Arif. They are BR, RRGB, MKN, and EYR. The other three suspects, AEL, SS, and FNK, were arrested on Tuesday (21/7). They were apprehended by the Jaya 1 Military Police Detachment team and subsequently handed over to South Tangerang Police investigators for further legal proceedings. Police are still pursuing two other individuals with the initials U and B in connection with this case. Both have been placed on the wanted list. The suspects are charged under multiple articles, namely Article 458 of the Criminal Code on murder, Article 262 paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code on affray, and Article 466 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code on assault. The suspects face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment or 20 years in prison.
