Fasting Compensation Payment 2026: How Much Fidyah Per Day?
Ramadan is the period for Muslims to observe a full month of fasting. However, certain groups are permitted to forgo fasting based on Islamic principles, with the obligation to compensate through fidyah payments.
Fidyah must be paid according to the number of fasting days missed for each individual. The National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) has established that the fidyah amount for 2026 is set at Rp65,000 per person per missed fasting day, as stipulated in BAZNAS Chief Decree No. 14 of 2026 concerning Zakat Fitrah and Fidyah Values for the Year 1447 Hijri (2026 CE).
This means that if someone misses one day of fasting, they must pay Rp65,000 in fidyah. For multiple missed days, this amount should be multiplied by the total number of fasting days not observed.
BAZNAS explains that fidyah payments can be made once the number of missed fasting days is determined. Payments may be made in instalments or as a single payment. Fidyah collected through BAZNAS will be distributed to eligible recipients to ensure proper allocation.
It is recommended that fidyah payment be preceded by declaring one’s intention (niyyah). The traditional intention statement reads: “I intend to pay the compensation for fasting as an obligation for the sake of Allah the Almighty.”
Fidyah can be paid through several methods:
Providing prepared food to the poor equivalent to the number of missed fasting days
Providing staple food items such as rice according to regulations
Payment in cash equivalent to the value of food
Distribution through official zakat organisations such as BAZNAS
