Fastest jacket makers to set record
SEMARANG, Central Java: Tailors from Surabaya in East Java intend to produce a jacket in record time for a place in the Semarang- based Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI).
Paulus Pangka, curator of MURI, said in Semarang on Tuesday that two designers and a seamster from Surabaya's FIT International Tailors would attempt to break the jacket-making record set by sewing a woolen jacket on Sept. 1.
"Normally a jacket takes seven hours to finish, but FIT with its new creation will attempt to make it in three and a half hours to set a MURI record," he said.
Led by Tino, FIT's group of designers in 1998 set a record with a four by 10 meter jacket.
MURI was established in Semarang on Jan. 27, 1990 and by June 23 this year had a collection of 718 records of unique things from all over the country. --Antara
