Fashion Center to open

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Trade and Industry Mohamad "Bob" Hasan and Canadian ambassador Gary J. Smith will officially inaugurate the Indotex LaSalle Documentation Center of Indonesian Fashion here tomorrow at the LaSalle International College, Gedung Pusat Niaga, Central Jakarta.

The center is a complete reference center for the Indonesian textile, garment and fashion industry, a statement from the college said.

"The center will not only be a useful information source for students at the LaSalle International College but for all involved in fashion design and marketing," Smith said.

Consisting of a research center, an IBM Internet Center and the Dupont Fabric Room-Lycra Innovation Center, the documentation center houses a library of material on fashion, textiles, design and business administration. It also includes a comprehensive collection of current fabrics by knitting, weaving and textile producers from across the country.

The college is a collaboration between the Indonesian Textile Association, the Canadian-based LaSalle College Group and the Canadian International Agency. (ylt)
