Farmer arrested over Marijuana

PADANG, West Sumatra: A farmer in the village of Koto Lalang in the Kubung district in Solok regency here was apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly growing 17 marijuana trees on his field, a police officer said on Wednesday.

Solok Police chief Adj. Comr. Misran Musa told reporters that 40 grams of dried marijuana and a certain amount of tobacco mixed with marijuana were also found in the field.

He declined to identify the farmer, but said that somebody must have financed him. "We are searching for this guy."

At the end of last year, 750 marijuana plants were found in Solok. "There may be link between the two seizures." (28/sur)
