Bandung — Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has given a strict deadline to project implementers for all cable excavation work across several road sections in the City of Bandung to be completed by 5 March 2026.

“I have issued strong warnings to PT BII as a municipal enterprise and also to the Department of Water Resources and Highways and the Department of Communications and Information Technology. I ensure that by 5 March all work in Bandung must be finished,” said Farhan in Bandung on Monday.

He hopes that with the deadline provided, all roads affected by the cable excavation project will no longer pose a danger to road users and cause traffic congestion.

“So this telecommunications infrastructure project will be completed at the latest by 5 March, so by 6 March everything will be resolved,” he said.

“When excavation begins, it must be clear when it will be completed and when it will be closed. That timeline must be communicated to the media and the public so residents have expectations,” he said.

He acknowledged that he continues to coordinate with the West Java Provincial Government because some road sections in the project fall under provincial authority.

“This is one unified Bandung City. If left unchecked, it will become a crisis because it has already caused various problems. Coordination between the Bandung City and West Java Provincial Government leadership forums,” he said.

“Those who report being victims will be handled very seriously. Victims who require hospital treatment will be covered if they seek treatment at the city hospital,” he said.
