Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has assessed that the reactivation of commercial flights at Husein Sastranegara International Airport will ease the mobility of Persib Bandung when competing in Asian competitions.

Farhan said the presence of international routes to Singapore and Malaysia will cut the travel time for Persib, who previously had to travel overland to Jakarta to catch flights abroad.

“With the reactivation of Husein Airport, especially this October there will be flights to Singapore and Malaysia. That makes transit much easier,” Farhan said in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday.

According to him, this connectivity can also provide convenience for Persib, who must play matches in various countries in the Shopee Cup and AFC Champions League Two (ACL Two) competitions.

“Hopefully, with the activation of Husein Airport, Persib can be more mobile. That is the encouragement from all the people of Bandung for Persib to become champions again,” he said.

Meanwhile, Persib player Marc Klok welcomed the resumption of commercial flights at Husein Sastranegara Airport.

According to him, the airport’s closer proximity to the centre of Bandung can help players save travel time.

“I am very happy because this helps the team, helps me and my family to travel faster. No need to take a bus or anything. Only 30 minutes from the airport. This is very good for this city,” Klok said.

Klok also assessed that the high public interest in using flights from Husein Airport shows the need for air connectivity to and from Bandung.

“The plane was also full yesterday. That means everyone needs it,” he said.
