Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan has assured that the supply of fuel in Bandung remains safe and under control. This comes after the central government guaranteed that prices for subsidised fuels and gas will not increase in the near future.

“Overall, we are still in an optimistic condition. The supply of fuel and gas for industrial and household needs is maintained. This guarantee from the Minister of Finance makes us all more relaxed, no need to worry,” he stated on Monday (30/3).

Nevertheless, Farhan reminded all regions in West Java to ensure that fuel distribution infrastructure is in optimal condition. He also urged the public not to engage in excessive purchases or panic buying. “We must convince the public that stocks are safe. Do not let there be panic buying, either for fuel or gas,” he advised.

On the other hand, Farhan revealed that there has been no instruction from the central government regarding the conversion of energy from fuel to electricity in the regions. However, the Bandung City Government is actively formulating energy strategies together with the central government, particularly in utilising waste to generate electricity. One concrete step is the plan to develop a Waste-to-Energy Power Plant (PSEL) in the Greater Bandung area.

“Besides locations in Legok Nangka and Sarimukti, the former Jelekong landfill area is also being promoted as a new alternative to support regional energy needs. We will coordinate with the central government. This is important for long-term solutions, especially environmentally based energy,” he explained.

Regarding internal government policies, Farhan also touched on the discourse of implementing a flexible work system such as Work From Home (WFH) for Civil Servants (ASN). However, the technical guidelines are still awaited. “We are still waiting for the technical instructions and guidelines. The important thing later is how to measure the effectiveness of ASN’s work,” he emphasised.

The Bandung City Government is ready to follow the central government’s policies regarding the plan for working from home or Work From Home (WFH) one day per week for ASN.

The Bandung City Government in West Java is ready to implement President Prabowo Subianto’s directives on strengthening environmental cleanliness and waste management.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan reflected on his first year of leadership as an important phase to lay the foundation for long-term development in Bandung City.
