Constitutional Court Justice Anwar Usman collapsed after attending his retirement ceremony at the Constitutional Court building in Central Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026) afternoon WIB. The judge, who had served at the MK for 15 years, appeared weak while walking from the court hall to the front lobby. During the procession, Anwar was supported by his wife and MK staff with slow steps. Upon reaching the lobby, he was assisted by other judges to remain standing until he finally collapsed and was carried into the main building’s waiting room by staff. As of this report, Anwar Usman was still in the waiting room, with the MK medical team having entered to assist. Based on circulating information, Anwar did not faint but weakened from exhaustion due to standing for too long during the retirement ceremony. “Mr Anwar is still conscious (not fainted), his condition is weak because his blood sugar has dropped. Exhausted from standing too long earlier,” said MK Secretary General Heru Setiawan. The retirement ceremony was held at 4:00 PM WIB.
