Fantastic! Crude Oil from Seized Iranian Vessel Sells for Rp900 Billion; Harley Davidson Becomes Highly Sought After
Jakarta, VIVA – The auction of state-seized goods at the BPA Fair 2026 has immediately recorded fantastic figures. The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) revealed that one asset, consisting of crude oil from the Iranian-flagged tanker MT Arman, was successfully sold for up to Rp900 billion during the pre-event stage.
This value far exceeds the initial reserve price, which was set at approximately Rp800 billion. The asset originates from an environmental pollution criminal case and now stands as one of the largest transactions in the history of auctions held by the Attorney General’s Office Asset Recovery Agency (BPA).
“We know that there is crude oil which, in the early pre-event stage, we sold with a reserve price of around 800 billion, and it has been sold at the figure of 900 billion. There has been an increase,” said the Head of the Attorney General’s Office BPA, Kuntability, on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
Despite recording jumbo transactions, not all high-value assets were immediately snapped up by auction participants. The MT Arman 114 tanker, which carries light crude oil, is reported to have yet to find a buyer.
The BPA Fair 2026 is officially being held from 18 to 21 May, featuring a total of 308 seized and confiscated assets from criminal activities being auctioned to the public. The Attorney General’s Office aims to sell the majority of these items during the event.
“Regarding 75 per cent of the 308 items we are selling—what is the price? Well, we hope for the highest possible. What is clear is that so far, the security deposits that have entered our accounts for those participating in the bidding have reached over Rp12 billion, with 100 people having submitted deposits,” he said.
In addition to assets worth hundreds of billions, several luxury goods seized from major cases have become significant attractions. One of the most popular items is a Harley Davidson motorcycle seized in the Indra Kenz binary option fraud case.
According to Kuntadi, the high public interest in seized assets serves as evidence that the concept of recovering criminal proceeds is becoming increasingly effective.
“Law enforcement today is no longer just about criminalising individuals, but more than that, it is about recovering losses for the victims. Who are the victims? It depends on the case. It could be the state in cases of corruption and so on, or it could be the general public. There was the Harley Davidson, which belonged to a victim of fraud,” he added.
