Family's Lawyer Accuses Prambanan Hospital of Playing Games Over Toddler's Death Meeting

Prambanan Regional General Hospital (RSUD) claims it has twice sent an invitation to meet the family of patient Naura, a 3-year-old girl who died following a CT scan. However, the two meetings failed to take place because the family could not attend. Regarding this matter, the patient’s legal counsel, Purnomo Susanto, confirmed that his team had received two invitations from the hospital. He assessed, however, that the notice given was too short. ‘Indeed, the Head of Legal Affairs for the Sleman Regency Government conveyed to us that the hospital wanted to provide an explanation. Two invitations were sent to us, but the invitations were always at very short notice,’ Purnomo said when contacted by journalists on Thursday.

Purnomo stated that the first invitation from the Director of Prambanan Hospital was sent on Monday, 18 May 2026, for a meeting at the Bima Hall of the hospital. Regarding that first invitation, his team had already communicated their absence via a written letter sent through a WhatsApp message to the hospital’s public relations department. The second invitation was received on 1 June 2026 at around 11:39 AM Western Indonesian Time. The agenda for this second invitation was an explanation to be delivered by the responsible doctor on Monday, 1 June 2026 at 3:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. ‘In response to the second invitation, we conveyed our inability to attend through our client to the Public Relations department of Prambanan Hospital,’ he said.

Due to the sudden invitations and short notice, he felt that the family was being toyed with by the hospital. ‘We assess that it seems the victim’s family is merely being played with and treated unethically. On 16 May 2026, their daughter died without explanation, and then they are invited at any time according to the whim of the Director of Prambanan Hospital. For the second invitation, it was sent at 11:39 AM Western Indonesian Time for a meeting at 3:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. Shouldn’t the hospital be serving, not being served?’ he said. As of now, Purnomo admitted that he has not received a new invitation from Prambanan Hospital. However, the hospital has requested that the family set aside time for the hospital to provide a medical explanation. Purnomo mentioned that this request is currently under discussion with the family.

The meeting was intended to provide a medical explanation and a copy of the medical records. This was conveyed by the Director of Prambanan Hospital, drg Ratih Susila. Regarding the family’s request to access medical records, Ratih explained that the hospital had already invited the patient’s family and their legal counsel. ‘We have invited the family and legal counsel twice so we can provide a medical explanation, and of course, the family can obtain a copy of the medical records. However, the family stated they were not yet able to attend the hospital,’ Ratih said when contacted by journalists on Wednesday. She stressed that the hospital would be open in providing medical explanations if the patient’s family comes and requests an explanation.
