Family Thanks West Java Police, Demands Heavy Sentence for Taufik Hidayat
West Java Police investigators have arrested Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in the abuse and unlawful confinement of his girlfriend, YTR (29). The family of the victim is demanding that Taufik receive a heavy sentence.
According to detikJabar, the perpetrator was apprehended at his hideout in Ciparay District, Bandung Regency, on Tuesday (23/6). Taufik has since been taken to the West Java Police headquarters for intensive questioning regarding the violent acts he committed.
The victim’s aunt, Erni Heryadi (39), has called for the maximum penalty. She is devastated by the condition of her niece, who has suffered permanent physical effects. “We want the perpetrator to be punished as severely as possible. Her future is still long; she is only 29 years old,” she said on Wednesday (24/6/2026). Erni added that the impact of the abuse was catastrophic. “My niece is now disabled. Her condition is worrying,” she stated.
Despite being overwhelmed with anger, the family is committed to pursuing the legal route and has placed their full trust in the police to handle the case. “We were furious and wanted to retaliate, but I told them, don’t be driven by emotion, just follow the law,” Erni stressed.
The family also expressed deep appreciation to the police officers, public figures, and activists who monitored the case until the suspect was caught. “Alhamdulillah, thank you to the Police Chief and his ranks for their swift response. Thank you to the Police Chief, Mr Dedi Mulyadi, social media activists, and influencers who helped,” Erni said.
Echoing this sentiment, the victim’s sister-in-law, Meiliani (33), expressed relief but continued to demand a punishment commensurate with the perpetrator’s cruelty. She also thanked the authorities for their hard work. “We are very grateful to the West Java Police and all the officers on duty who succeeded in arresting the perpetrator,” she said.
