Family Resilience Strengthened Through Women's Empowerment in Bajawa
The programme, held in Bajawa, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, was designed as a gathering space for families, particularly mothers, to collectively understand the importance of children’s mental health and the role of parents in providing support. It featured parenting education, free health examinations, and informal learning activities for children, ensuring the benefits were felt directly by families and the surrounding community.
Beyond addressing social aspects, the initiative also aimed to bolster the economic independence of underprivileged women. In Bajawa, PNM is promoting the development of a nutmeg business cluster as a local economic potential that can become a source of income for the community. Through mentoring, financing, and business training, women in the region are expected to gain broader opportunities to develop skills, strengthen ultra-micro enterprises, and help improve family welfare sustainably.
PNM President Director Kindaris stated that empowering women impacts not only the family economy but also how children grow and are nurtured. When a mother has access to knowledge, support, and business opportunities, she can become a stronger foundation for the family. “PNM believes that empowered women can bring positive change both at home and in their surrounding environment. Through this collaboration, we want to support mothers in becoming more independent while also better understanding the importance of attentive parenting. Children’s mental health is a shared responsibility, and every child deserves to grow up in a safe, healthy, and empathetic space,” Kindaris said.
