Family of Four Found Dead in Central Java Camping Trip Amid Suspected Poisoning, Food Samples Tested

Police are investigating the case of four family members who died during a camping trip at the Kledung tourist area in Temanggung Regency, Central Java. The victims are suspected to have died from poisoning.

“There is a suspicion of poisoning; based on initial indications, it is likely (poisoning),” said Iptu I Komang Mahendra Deputra, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Temanggung Police Station, as reported by detikJateng on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

Komang stated that the victims are suspected to have been poisoned by food they brought themselves. Initial suspicions are still under further investigation by officers.

“The barbecue was brought by the victims themselves. Likely from the food they brought,” Komang added.

Officers have collected samples of the barbecue food at the scene. Tests are being conducted at the Central Java Police Forensic Laboratory.

“And for the food brought by the victims, we are currently conducting tests at the Central Java Police Forensic Laboratory,” he stressed.

The four victims consist of three males and one female. The male victims are identified as MAM (52), AEH (17), and BAH (21), while the female victim is identified as M (43). All are residents of Panjang Village, Ambarawa District, Semarang Regency. They were found dead on Wednesday, 27 May.
